"Spiritual Growth Live the Questions, Love the Journey" reveals the stages of growth that most of us go through. Wherever you may be on your spiritual journey, this book helps you see the deepest foundation for the type of God you believe in. It supports you to more rationally and consciously know God as love.
Growth is a process that may seem haphazard. The author, citing numerous giants of research on stages of growth, shows how we can see where we’ve been and know where we are headed if we choose to pursue maturity.
This fairly short, very readable book covers important developments in what has become a kind of war between fans of science and of religion. It began centuries ago but seems, on the surface, no closer to resolution than ever. However, a deeper look, uncovered here, shows readers a way to fully respect their spiritual insights as well as the findings of science. The result is avoiding or climbing out of the quicksand that often sucks us down in our life’s spiritual journey.

Spiritual Growth Live the Questions Love the Journey edition by Howard Pepper Religion Spirituality eBooks
Howard Pepper's book touched on my own experiences moving from a deeply religious upbringing, (where I believed I had the "true" religion and everyone else was doomed), to dismay and angst when I started questioning some of the tenets of that religion that seemed irreconcilable with common sense, morality, and science. In despair, I threw the proverbial baby out with the bath water and remained "unchurched" for many years until a yearning for something I had lost became too great. Now I have moved from "religious" to "spiritual", as have many of my friends. This book is a WONDERFUL tool for people who are navigating these perilous waters of faith versus reason, and who desire a union/communion with the Divine that transcends the institutions that claim to have the best path. As a non-denominational ordained minister, and healing practitioner, Mr. Pepper's book will help me help those I serve who are living the questions, but haven't yet started to love the journey!Product details

Spiritual Growth Live the Questions Love the Journey edition by Howard Pepper Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
In todays hectic world with positions and perspectives shouting partisan absolutes it is reassuring to find reasoned thought and inspired encouragement. It is refreshing to read of spirituality that is free of condemnation and assumed failure. To venture into the tent of religiosity is to risk the bane of many that require absolutes and dedicated allegiance. The author steps past such traps and pulls the reader to a consideration and discussion of spirituality that underlines acceptance and individuality. The analogy of a question inspired journey gives away the unique and personal challenge that life presents to us all. The evolving dialogue reviews the thoughts of many significant thinkers but never wavers from underlining choice and progression of the individual. This encouraging text flows gently along the unfolding journey of life and whispers of a nearby presence that will not fail to support and encourage.
This is a friendly and highly readable exploration of spiritual growth in the postmodern age. Pepper offers an important examination of "a persistent and deep questioning of core elements of belief" in America, zeroing in on the gray areas many feel themselves to be immersed in today. Pepper's approach, far from being narrow or one-sided, is refreshingly polyvalent. The developmental, emotional, psychological, existential, and other key dimensions of the person are considered in an honest survey of contemporary doubt and faith. "Spiritual Growth" is a timely text useful to teachers, pastors, counselors, as well as your average reader exploring the grand questions of faith and life.
The author has written a very thoughtfull dissertation on progressive thinking and spiritual growth. He spends a lot of time discussing how this pertains the younger seekers. I agree with his premise.
This is a wise and engaging guide for those interested in spiritual growth. Howard Pepper presents a winsome approach to religious faith that focuses more on the method (openness and self-knowledge) than on any specific dogmas or belief systems. However, his tilt toward process thought shows that he's not simply a relativist. This is practical, accessible, and encouraging popular theology.
